BERYL
- GREAT NORTHERN BEAN - Advanced Genetics
Performance
and Adaptability - A combination of early maturity, wide
adaptability, and excellent yield potential have earned
Beryl the reputation as an industry standard in western
Nebraska. Its ability to maintain production under a wide
array of conditions and production practices makes it
a hard-to-beat, farmer-friendly bean. Beryl typically
delivers the high quality the industry expects.
Growth Habit and Maturity - Beryl’s medium-sized
vine has a semi-upright structure. It matures in approximately
92 days, and dries down uniformly.
Quality - Beryl typically yields approximately 1,450
attractive, chalky white seeds per pound. Its outstanding
seed appearance and canning quality characteristics
have contributed to Beryl’s overall success.
Disease Tolerance - Beryl has shown resistance to the
prevalent strains of Bean Common Mosaic virus and tolerance
to Halo and common bacterial blights, and many races
of bean rust. It has exhibited some field tolerance
to white mold.
