Performance and Adaptability - ROG179 is a high yielding vine variety adapted to much of the high plains region. ROG179 has a medium length vine with enough stem structure to keep many pods off the ground, and this helps to maintain bean quality. ROG179 has its best performance on medium fertility or sloping soils.
Growth Habit and Maturity - ROG179 is a mid-season vine variety with an approximate maturity of 95 days. This is about the same as the Bill Z. variety.
Seed Quality - ROG179 has the traditional pinto shape and size, with about 1200 seeds per pound. It has bright attractive seed maintaining well in storage. ROG179 also has good cool soil germination.
Disease Resistance - ROG179 is tolerant to the prevalent strains of Bean Common Mosaic virus. It has shown some tolerance to bacterial brown spot and halo blight. ROG179 also has some field tolerance to bean rust.
